This place hits! First time I tried this style of Japanese noodles. The Felix mazemen had the perfect blend of spice and umami flavors. The chashu was really good and it blended well with the noodles. The agedashi takoyaki (takoyaki in a broth) is so delicious just an explosion of umami flavor in your mouth. Definitely my new favorite style if takoyaki. The restaurant doesn't have too much seating but we went for dinner on a Sunday and it was not busy at all. The place is really cute and reminiscent of a small Japanese noodle shop. The servers were absolutely really sweet and attentive. Will be coming back again to try different things!

I read about Mogu Mogu and looked forward to trying their Mazemen bowls. My wife and I ordered Tokyo bowls--spicy minced pork, poached egg, scallions, chives, fish umami, and seaweed flakes over fast, chewy noodles. We shared an order of Mogu chicken--fried chunks of chicken with spicy mayo. All of the food was good. I wish the Tokyo bowl had more minced pork and fewer scallions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You order by scanning a QR code for the menu and then a staff member takes the order. The restaurant was crowded and loud, but not overbearing. Seating is on wooden benches or backless metal stools, both are not meant to encourage a leisurely meal. We were in and out in 40 minutes, and we took our time eating. Street parking is available.

Sunday lunch with my son at Mogu Mogu today. The Mazeman was so good, I would have eaten a second bowl right after the first. Really amazing flavor. The little shimmy move they recommend, "drop some vinegar in towards the end" was real, and also delicious. Super impressed. Quick, courteous & attentive service. Kicking some decent jams on the Sonos... Great Sunday Afternoon ambience.. Happy we tried this spot. Will. Be. Back.

Shop was quite busy and had to lineup for a table for 2 at around 7pm on a week day. After getting seated service was fast and food came pretty quick as well. Kyoto Mazemen - Their unique type of ramen where the soup is a more concentrated and thick. Then they finish you off with a bowl of rice to mop up the residual soup. This was their not spicy variety, but I was disappointed with the flavour of the dish. I was expecting a more rich version of a shoyu, but didn't get much depth of flavour. The ramen was cooked well and there was plenty of toppings. Perhaps the Tokyo Mazemen would have been better flavour wise. Mogu chicken - Their fried chicken was pretty good, crispy outside, moist inside. Seasoning on the chicken itself was a bit lacking and relied on the sauce on top and the spicy mayo on the side.

Honestly a solid go to spot if you want a straightforward salty af, carb heavy af, comfort meal. It hits fersure. I wish there was more seating inside, but Sawtelle real estate doesn't come cheap! The best part of our meal were (in my humble opinion) the pork buns -- the texture of the kale with the softened of the bun and tender pork just....WORKS. Trust me!

I just realized that I've had a lot of great foodie experiences in 2025... lucky me! I first tried Mogu mogu down in OC and finally got around to checking out the location in Sawtelle. They're slightly off the beaten track from the main area of Sawtelle off Olympic and Colby. Parking is pretty easy and they do have a few spots in the lot next door and plenty of street parking. The last time I went, we split a deluxe mazemen but I wasn't about to share this time...lol! And....It was just as good as I remember. It's one of those flavors that is so good you actually salivate thinking about it. No kidding. The restaurant is small but service is friendly and quick. If you've never tried mazemen, go right now!!!! Note: this is not ramen so get that thought out of your head! And you're welcome in advance.

Soooo good! I got the deluxe mazeman which was absolutely delicious. Meat was very tender and juicy, eggs were perfectly soft boiled / poached. I love adding a TON of vinegar but that's just my preference. I also love the little bowl of rice they give at the end to soak up the rest of the contents. Came Sunday night around 7pm and waited only 5 min or so to be seated for party of 2.

Maybe I hyped this place up for myself too much because it didn't blow my socks off as I'd hoped! I got the deluxe mazemen, which came with an great variety of toppings (pork chashu, spicy minced pork, poached egg, seaweed, a soft boiled egg, seaweed flakes, and garnishes), and also a small bowl of rice that you can eat with the sauce at the end. It was tasty mazemen, but the amount of food wowed me more than the actual dish, and overall the flavors didn't taste balanced. The sauce, though plentiful, felt too heavy along with all the rich toppings, though adding vinegar helped cut through the richness. Noodle texture was very good. We got here around 5:15pm on a weekday evening and didn't have to wait in line, though there was a line of around 10 people by the time we left. Our food came out fast though, so it seems like turnover would be pretty quick. The ambience isn't anything fancy and the store is small, but it was well-maintained and noise level wasn't too loud even though the tables are all pretty close to each other. Service is quick and polite. Overall solid, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite spot to go to in Sawtelle!

stopped by after a day of exploring LA. This used to be the go to spot when I was back in college. A little bit away from the main strip of sawtelle mogu mogu does amazing mazemen. I usually go for the Kyoto non spicy mazemen but I opted for the Tokyo this time. It was really flavorful and always remember to add the ground sesame. At the end of the meal they give you leftover rice to soak up the leftovers and it's really good!

Came here with a group of 4 and had to wait for about 20 min to get seated but it was worth it! Good: - The deluxe mazemen is such a good deal - you get so many toppings and so much food for less than $20. There are loads of noodles you get with each dish, and I liked the way they made their runny egg. - I liked adding the vinegar to the dish and it made it a mix of sweet and savory - such a fun twist - They sneakily added rice to the end of the meal, which was nice for cleaning up the soup - Super nice staff and clean wooden aesthetic Bad: - Takes a while to get into the place, super popular Overall enjoyed this hole in the wall gem near Sawtelle a lot! Would come back for sure
